Violent rainfall in the Suruç district of Şanlıurfa caused unexpected flooding of the rivers. Residents in their homes faced the floodwaters and experienced a great panic. So far, there have been no casualties in the incident, but the extent of the material damage has not yet been determined.
The flash flood that occurred in the Pınarbaşı Mezrası of Ekili Mahallesi during the night blocked the bridge entrance, causing cars to be dragged away. The intensity and speed of the floodwaters caused materials in the vicinity to be carried away, creating fear. Fortunately, immediately after the incident, rescue teams were dispatched to the area for intervention.
Meteorological authorities issued warnings for floods and inundations throughout Şanlıurfa, while the Governor’s Office warned all institutions to be prepared for the flood disaster. Metropolitan and district municipalities also put their teams on high alert and took precautions against possible disasters.
Aziz Birden, a resident of the neighborhood, stated that the heavy rainfall in the upper regions led to the flood disaster and mentioned that no negative incidents have occurred so far.
