The President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), Numan Kurtulmuş, visited the DEM Party as part of the new constitution work. Kurtulmuş is visiting the political party groups in the Assembly and sharing contributions in the process of drafting a new constitution.
Statements by Kurtulmuş on the Constitution Process
TBMM President Numan Kurtulmuş stated after the DEM Party visit that they shared the framework regarding the constitution process. Kurtulmuş emphasized that the process should be carried out openly, transparently, and democratically, expressing his wish for political parties to conduct a joint constitution work with a broad consensus.
Call for Clearing the Path by DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatımoğulları Oruç
DEM Party Co-Chair Tülay Hatımoğulları Oruç, in her statement following Kurtulmuş’s visit, mentioned that Turkey is in need of a serious path clearing. Oruç highlighted the necessity of establishing a democratic ground and achieving social consensus, stating that differences should be constitutionally guaranteed on the basis of equal citizenship.
