New Zigana Tunnel: Providing Ease of Transportation

Located on the Trabzon-Gümüşhane highway, the New Zigana Tunnel, one of the longest tunnels in Turkey and Europe, has been providing uninterrupted transportation for over a year. After the tunnel was put into service, more than 4 million vehicles have passed through here. The construction of the tunnel, which started in April 2016, was completed in May 2023.

The sharp turns, ramps, and various risks encountered by drivers at Zigana Pass have come to an end with the opening of the New Zigana Tunnel. Thus, transportation between Trabzon and Gümüşhane has become safer.

The New Zigana Tunnel, which shortens the distance by approximately 30 minutes, has provided savings not only in time but also in fuel and carbon emission costs. With the opening of the tunnel, savings of over 200 million TL have been achieved in transportation costs.
