Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Supports Family Living in a Tent

The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality provided solar panel support to the Yağmurkaya family, who are engaged in small livestock farming in Değirmençay Mahallesi, a district of Central Yenişehir, enabling them to have access to electricity. Asiye and Ali Yağmurkaya, the couple, can now easily carry out their daily tasks with electricity in their tent life.

Yağmurkaya Family: “Our Life is Brightened”

Asiye Yağmurkaya stated that thanks to the solar panel support, light has come to their tents and they can now do their work in the evening. Yağmurkaya, who explained that they used to be in the dark and had to do most of their work during the day, expressed that their lives have brightened with the support of the Municipality. The family mentioned that they now have an environment where their children can study, watch television, and have meals comfortably.

Ali Yağmurkaya emphasized that the solar panel provided great convenience in work and daily life, stating that their tents are now illuminated. The family said that thanks to the solar panel, they can focus on their children’s studies and spend evenings comfortably.

Hasan Hüseyin Yağmurkaya, a senior high school student, shared that with the support of the solar panel, he can study in the evenings and that they now live in a more comfortable environment with light in the evenings.

Zeynep Durmaz, who serves at the Department of Agricultural Services, stated that they provided solar panel support to 400 producers this year, mentioning that they also supported 360 producers last year. Durmaz pointed out that the number of women producers benefiting from the project is increasing every year.
