Speculations on Forest Fires
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Albülkadir Polat, drew attention to the speculations in the press and social media during the forest fire season every year. Polat reminded that forest areas are protected by the constitution and stated that speculations about the burned areas do not reflect the truth.
Forest Fire Statistics and Interventions
Deputy Minister Polat announced that 90% of forest fires are caused by human factors, while 10% occur due to natural causes. Sharing the numbers of helicopters, planes, UAVs, and vehicles used in intervention against fires, Polat stated that more than 25,000 fire brigade members nationwide are fighting tirelessly day and night.
“Forest is Mine” Campaign
Deputy Minister Polat invited citizens to participate in the “Forest is Mine” campaign initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, calling for involvement in the event organized to clean flammable materials in forests. Emphasizing that the aim of the campaign is to raise awareness against forest fires, Polat invited everyone to support this important campaign.
