Ege University maintains its rise in the 2024 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings

One of the most prestigious organizations evaluating the successes of higher education institutions worldwide, Times Higher Education (THE), announced the 2024 Asia University Rankings. Ege University, which rose to the 301-350 range globally, continued its ascent and ranked 8th among Turkish state universities.

Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak: “Aiming for the Best”

Expressing that Ege University continues to produce science and technology with its strong ecosystem by aiming for the best, Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak stated, “Our research-focused university, which is fully accredited in the international arena and has a student-centered approach, climbed from the previous year’s global ranking of 501-600 to the 301-350 range in THE – 2024 Asia University Rankings, and elevated its Turkey ranking from 21st to 8th place. Our university, which brings its students together with a strong physical and digital infrastructure in a science and technology-oriented ecosystem at global standards, made significant progress nationally and internationally compared to the previous year. The university’s success was influenced by qualified research and learning environment, industry income, and indicators based on patents. We have worked with a complete dedication to take these successes to even higher levels, to make the second century of the Republic the Turkish century of science, and we continue to work with the same determination and perseverance. In the upcoming years, we aim to achieve higher rankings in this and similar rankings. In this year, which we declared as the Year of Loyalty for Ege University, I thank all our members who contribute their intellect and hard work to strengthen our international brand value.”

Main Performance Indicators

• Universities were evaluated based on a total of 18 performance indicators in research environment, industry (industry income and patents), international outlook, research quality, and teaching (learning environment) categories.
• Ege University ranked 6th among Turkish state universities in the industry (industry income and patents) category and 4th among Turkish state universities in the teaching (learning environment) category.

Ege University Maintained Its Rise in Field-Based Rankings

• Ege University ranked 3rd among Turkish state universities in agriculture and forestry, geography fields, 4th in medical and dental sciences, sports sciences, and archaeology fields, 5th in accounting and finance, arts, performing arts and design, psychology, and other health fields, 6th in biological sciences, business management, chemistry, economics and econometrics, education, mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, politics and international studies, history, philosophy and theology, languages, literature and linguistics, sociology fields, 7th in civil engineering, computer science, electrical and electronic engineering, general engineering, geology, environmental, earth and marine sciences, mechanical and aerospace engineering fields, and 8th in chemical engineering.
