Amendments to Mining Law
The Law Proposal on Amendments to the Mining Law and Some Other Laws has been approved in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly and enacted. According to the amendments made;
- Reporting obligation according to the National Mineral Resource and Reserve Reporting Commission (UMREK) code will continue only for IVth Group mining operation licenses.
- The General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) will gain the right of discovery without the obligation to prepare a report according to the UMREK Code for the minerals found by obtaining an exploration license, with reports prepared by MTA.
Energy Regulations
The additions to the Natural Gas Market Law and other energy regulations are as follows:
- The definition of liquefaction of natural gas will be added to the Law.
- Exceptions provided for the operation and relocation of Floating LNG facilities will be determined by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) in accordance with the procedures and principles to be determined.
- Existing storage facilities may be granted exemptions for a certain period regarding capacity increases or new facilities, and storage companies will be obliged to publish information regarding the services.
- Legal entities operating liquefaction facilities for liquefying domestically produced or imported natural gas for export or resale abroad will be required to obtain licenses.
