Caretta Caretta First Nesting Event at Cirali Beach in Kemer

“Caretta Caretta First Nest” event was organized at the world-renowned Cirali Beach in Kemer. Kemer District Governor Ahmet Solmaz, who attended the event, stated that the presence of loggerhead turtles in Cirali contributes greatly to tourism. He mentioned that visitors to Cirali come not only for the sea, sand, and sun but also to see the loggerhead turtles’ nests and the moments when the hatchlings leave the nests.

First Nest Event Details

• The event, organized under the leadership of Kemer District Governorship and Kemer Municipality, was held with the contribution of various public institutions.
• The event held on Cirali beach was attended by Kemer District Governor Ahmet Solmaz, Kemer Deputy Mayor Mehmet Derya Baytekin, Kemer Gendarmerie Commander Omer Seyhan, and other relevant officials.
• As a result of the efforts, the nesting area of loggerhead turtles was determined, cages were placed for security purposes, and the area around the nest was protected.

Loggerhead Turtles and Cirali Beach

Loggerhead turtles laying their eggs on Cirali beach contribute to the region becoming an important tourist attraction. Governor Ahmet Solmaz stated that last year, 5,500 loggerhead turtles reached the sea from 105 nests, and they aim for a similar success this year. He emphasized the importance of efforts to protect loggerhead turtles and to sustainably use the beach.
