The 24th International Theater Festival, organized by the General Directorate of State Theaters under the auspices of Trabzon State Theater, opened under heavy rain. The festival, which will take place in Trabzon between May 2-15, was attended by Tamer Karadağlı, the General Director of State Theaters, who portrays the character ‘Haluk’ in the TV series ‘Çocuklar Duymasın’.
Opening and Participants
The opening ceremony took place at the 15 July Martyrs and Liberty Park. The event was attended not only by important figures such as Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdullah Uraloğlu, Governor of Trabzon Aziz Yıldırım, CHP Trabzon Deputy Sibel Suiçmez, and Mayor of Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Ahmet Metin Genç, but also with the intense interest of the public. A wreath was laid at the Atatürk Monument as part of the event.
Statement from the General Director of State Theaters
The General Director of State Theaters, Tamer Karadağlı, emphasized the important role of festivals in promoting the country, stating, “Festivals contribute significantly to the promotion of the country in terms of art and tourism. This festival highlights the interest and love of Trabzon for theater culture. The audience in Trabzon is very selective and supportive of theater,” he said.
Karadağlı expressed that he was deeply moved by the interest shown by the people during the parade under the rain, stating, “The immense interest shown by the public truly made me very happy. I have always encountered great interest in Trabzon, but this time, the interest was particularly touching,” he said.
Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdullah Uraloğlu also emphasized the need for Trabzon to take a more prominent position in the field of culture and arts, stating, “It is important to develop Trabzon’s cultural and artistic potential. This international event is fitting for Trabzon and contributes to the city’s cultural life,” he said.
