In Edirne, on May 1st Labor and Solidarity Day, farmers and workers in the cleaning sector were on duty. Despite May 1st being Labor Day, many workers in various sectors continued to work. While government institutions were on holiday, farmers, bakers, restaurant owners, and workers in other sectors pursued their work diligently.

Early Spraying in Sunflower Field: Mehmet Ada, who sprayed the fields with a tractor in the early hours of the morning, stated that he was working to clean the weeds in the sunflower field due to changes in weather conditions. Ada said, ‘Even though today is May 1st, we have to do our job. We need to spray the 60-acre field. Work does not wait.’

A Day of Work for the Balloon Seller: Balloon seller Nihat Bozkaya, who went to work despite it being May 1st, said, ‘It may be a holiday, but work is separate. We bought 70 balloons early in the morning but haven’t made any sales yet. Our work continues.’

No Holiday in the Service Sector: The kebab master mentioned that May 1st is a holiday, but workers in the service sector are still on duty. ‘There is no holiday in our sector, our work continues.’

Holiday Decision Depends on Tradesmen: Male hairdresser Güray Özsaygılı said, ‘Whether May 1st is a holiday depends on the tradesmen’s association’s decision. We already start early in the morning and work until late hours, our work continues.’
