Heavy rains in the district of Karapınar in Konya caused significant damage to cultivated lands. The floods in the town center also put the residents in a difficult situation.

For the past 2 days, heavy rain has been ongoing in Karapınar, resulting in particularly newly planted corn fields being submerged. Karapınar, which is the driest and least rainy region in Turkey, receiving 50 kilograms of rainfall per square meter in a day is raising concerns among farmers.

In Karapınar, which has experienced a dry season, the recent rainfall, although generally welcomed with joy, has led to significant damages in agricultural fields. This situation, which is crucial for the region where agriculture is the main source of livelihood, is increasing farmers’ concerns about the future.

The rains also caused floods in the town center. Municipal teams are making intense efforts to unclog the drains.
