Heavy rains in the district of Karapınar in Konya caused significant damage to agricultural areas. The floods in the town center also put the residents in a difficult situation.
Cultivated Lands Submerged
The intense rainfall in Karapınar for the past 2 days led to cultivated fields being submerged under water. Especially the newly planted corn fields suffered damage, leaving farmers in distress. Karapınar, one of the driest and least rainy regions in Turkey, received 50 kilograms of rainfall per square meter with the recent showers.
Floods in the Town Center
The rains not only affected agricultural areas but also caused floods in the town center. Municipal teams made great efforts to clear clogged drains and minimize the hardship of the residents.
