Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar conducted inspections at the Tuz Golu Underground Natural Gas Storage Facility. Minister Bayraktar visited the storage facility and received information from the authorities. Bayraktar chatted with the workers and also answered questions from the press.
Turkey’s Energy Infrastructure
Minister Bayraktar provided information about Turkey’s energy infrastructure. He stated that the country supplies its natural gas through pipelines from Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran, and mentioned that the infrastructure for liquefied natural gas is also being developed. He indicated that Turkey is now capable of receiving 160 million cubic meters of natural gas in liquid form.
Minister Bayraktar announced that Turkey has a natural gas storage capacity of 5.8 billion cubic meters. He highlighted that the country has reached a daily LNG intake capacity of approximately 30 million cubic meters and emphasized that Turkey is also progressing towards producing its own natural gas.
Turkey’s Energy Demand and Production
Minister Bayraktar expressed that Turkey has started to meet a significant portion of its energy demand with its own natural gas. He mentioned that the country’s natural gas production continues to increase and conveyed that their goal is to make Turkey an energy hub that ensures supply security.
Bayraktar pointed out that around 4.3 billion dollars have been allocated to infrastructure investments in the last 8 years. He stated that these investments have strengthened Turkey’s position in the energy sector and taken significant steps towards ensuring supply security.
