Just like nationwide, May 1st Labor and Solidarity Day was celebrated enthusiastically in Izmir as well. Political party representatives, workers, unions, and civil society organizations gathered in the city center and marched from Cyprus Martyrs Street, Alsancak Port, Basmane Square, and Republic Square to Gündoğdu Square. After the security check conducted by the police teams, the citizens entered the area and listened to the strong messages about May 1st from Hayrettin Çakmak, the Turkish Confederation of Labour Unions (Türk-İş) Aegean Region Representative.

Hayrettin Çakmak, the Turkish Confederation of Labour Unions (Türk-İş) Aegean Region Representative, stated, “May 1st is the day of labor, sweat, peace, democracy, and solidarity for a secure future. We will persistently and decisively continue our struggle for equality, democracy, and justice for the realization of the democratic, secular, and social constitutional state defined in our Constitution for the May 1st of 2024. The future will rise in the hands of the working class and all laborers.”
