IZKITAP Fest – Izmir Book Fair

IZKITAP Fest hosted book lovers in Kültürpark for 10 days under the name Izmir Book Fair. The fair took place between April 19-28, 2024, and welcomed tens of thousands of visitors. IZKITAP Fest was warmly welcomed by the people of Izmir.

Main Theme: Children’s Literature

IZKITAP Fest was organized with the main theme of ‘Children’s Literature’. The fair, featuring guest of honor writer Ahmet Ümit, hosted special events for children. Special activities for children were also organized on April 23, National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.

Events and Talks

At the fair, talks by prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör, Prof. Dr. Emrah Safa Gürkan, Murathan Mungan received great interest. Additionally, musicals like Kral Şakir and Masha and the Bear were highly popular among children.

Authors and Book Signing Events

IZKITAP Fest hosted around 300 publishers, nearly 50 second-hand booksellers, and many authors. Authors engaged in discussions with book lovers and signed their books. Furthermore, a special talk was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Authors’ Association.

Future Plans

IZKITAP Fest took place in spring at Kültürpark. In autumn, between October 26 – November 3, 2024, the fair will once again welcome visitors at fuarizmir. With these events, publishers and authors will continue to meet book enthusiasts.
