A reception was held in Marmaris district of Muğla, hosted by the Honorary Consulate of the Netherlands, to celebrate ‘King’s Day’. The Ambassador of the Netherlands in Ankara, Joep Wijnands, presented a check to Governor İdris Akbıyık for 10 thousand saplings.

Reception Details

To mark the national day of the Netherlands, a ‘King’s Day’ reception was organized by the Honorary Consulate of the Netherlands in Marmaris at a hotel. The event was attended by Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık, Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü, the Ambassador of the Netherlands in Ankara Joep Wijnands and his wife Carmen Van Toorenburg, local protocol, numerous representatives from public institutions, tourism professionals, and guests.

Ambassador Wijnands’ Speech

In his speech, Ambassador Wijnands conveyed birthday wishes to King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands and emphasized the strong friendship between the two countries. He also expressed satisfaction with Turkey’s support for the candidacy of the Dutch Prime Minister for the NATO Secretary General position.

Netherlands-Turkey Relations

Highlighting the longstanding diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries, Wijnands stated that Turkey is an important partner for the Netherlands. He also evaluated the connections between the Turkish community in Turkey and the Netherlands.

Contributions by the Netherlands

Addressing the Netherlands’ support to Turkey, the Ambassador announced their contribution to the creation of the Netherlands-Turkey Friendship Forest by donating 10 thousand trees, with plans to increase this number to 20 thousand. Additionally, he pledged support for tourism and cultural activities.
