Another Milestone Achieved in National Helicopter Engine

TEI has successfully completed the processes of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and earned the “Design Organization Approval” (DOA) required for the type certification of domestic and national aviation engines, proving its competence in aviation engine design.
For DOA, according to SHT-21/EASA Part 21 regulations, a systematic, planned, risk-centric approach is required for the establishment of organization and process procedures, development of personnel competencies, and definition of authorities and responsibilities. As a result of the audits conducted by DGCA regarding compliance with the relevant regulations, TEI’s design competence in accordance with international certification criteria has been certified. TEI, which will conduct the certification of domestically and nationally developed engines under this authority, has become the first company in Turkey to receive DOA for civil aviation engine certification.
Commenting on the “Design Organization Approval” granted to TEI by DGCA, Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün stated:
“TEI, the first institution to receive Design Organization Approval (DOA) in Turkey, has made us all proud with this news. I congratulate the TEI management and employees who have contributed to the process with their efforts and sacrifices. I believe that our defense industry institutions will achieve many more significant successes. Our aim is one; it will be the ‘Century of Turkey, Century of Defense’.”
The international civil certification process of Turkey’s first national helicopter engine, TEI-TS1400, which will power the GÖKBEY Helicopter, will be completed with the type certification process following DOA. In addition to national engine projects, TEI had also obtained the Part 145 Maintenance Organization Approval issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) with its component maintenance service provided for TP400 engines used in A400M military cargo planes since 2018. TEI, leaving another milestone in the field of national engines behind, will continue to play important roles in terms of our country’s freedom in the field of engines and its competitiveness on a global scale by developing certified engines needed in Turkey’s military and civil aviation fields.
