The company places sustainability principles at the center of its business strategies, actively contributes to climate risk management, and commits to adhering to the 10 fundamental universal principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). The company has announced its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 45% by 2030 and target ‘Net Zero’ by 2050.

Kaan Aktan, Deputy General Manager of Finance at Turkish Telekom, stated, “Sustainability is one of our most important focus areas as a company. We are taking significant steps not only for today’s needs but also for the sustainability of tomorrow. In this journey, we are taking concrete steps to reduce our carbon footprint and increase our contribution to environmental sustainability. Within this context, we aim to achieve a 45% reduction in our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions relative to the 2020 base year by 2030, and by 2050, we target Net Zero in line with Turkey and GSMA goals. We believe that our commitment goes beyond a numerical target representing a decrease; it is an indication of our responsibility to create a sustainable future as a company.”
According to the announcement, Turkish Telekom, in the near future, will reiterate its commitment by joining the ‘Science-Based Targets Initiative’ (SBTi) in accordance with global sustainability standards. This step reinforces the company’s sustainability commitments and indicates that its strategies for the future are based on scientific principles.
