- Productive Artificial Intelligence Summit brought together industry leaders
The Productive Artificial Intelligence Summit, organized to assess the development of artificial intelligence, the latest and most popular product in the world of technology, and shed light on new roadmaps, gathered industry leaders. The summit highlighted Turkey’s position at the 47th spot among 160 countries in the International Artificial Intelligence Index, emphasizing the increasing investments in the sector.
Artificial intelligence, a product of technology, is one of the most significant topics capturing Turkey’s attention. Based on this, the Business World magazine in Turkey organized the “Productive Artificial Intelligence Summit” at Altınbaş University to evaluate the development of artificial intelligence and illuminate new roadmaps. The launch of the summit’s coverage in the March issue of the Business World magazine was also conducted during the meeting.
Although the summit acknowledged that Turkey has not yet reached a sufficient level in this regard, it shared information that investments in the field are gaining momentum. While the global artificial intelligence revolution advances rapidly, Turkey’s domestic artificial intelligence initiatives intensify global competition. As all business processes gradually shift towards this field, new roadmaps and strategies emerge one after another.
The General Editor-in-Chief of the Business World magazine, Celal Toprak, opened the Productive Artificial Intelligence Summit with an introductory speech. Emphasizing the importance of the summit, Toprak stated, “We are here to hold the preparation meeting for the Productive Artificial Intelligence Summit that we will organize in June. Today, we will exchange ideas. We have valuable guests from the energy sector to the logistics sector. Our guests will outline the roadmap for us in the artificial intelligence summit.”
Experts in the field
The meeting, bringing together different sectors under one roof, was attended by representatives from Altınbaş University, including Ali Altınbaş (Chairman of the Board of Trustees), İmam Altınbaş (Chairman of the Board), and Dr. Fatma Altınbaş (Chair of the Sociology Department). Other participants included Murat Akyüz (Chairman of the Board of Directors at TİAD), Cem Şirolu (Board Member at TİAD), Kübra Odabaş Taşlı (Product & Channel Group President at Bankpozitif), Gökhan Akar (Chairman of the Board at Onicorn Technology), Enes Örer (CEO of Oğuz Holding), Özlem İkiz Arın (General Manager of Uyumsoft Investment Services), Mehmet Baykut (Chairman of the Board at Imperial Logistics), Berna Salkaya (Product Manager at Hepsiburada), Volkan Ormanlı (General Manager of İhlas Digital Assets), Dr. Mustafa Işık (Supply Chain Director at MPLCare Health Group), and Atilla Zaimoğlu (Independent Auditor-Financial Advisor).
Opening the summit, Celal Toprak, General Editor-in-Chief of the Business World magazine, expressed their happiness in hosting the Productive Artificial Intelligence Summit. Dr. Fatma Altınbaş, Chair of the Sociology Department at Altınbaş University, highlighted the university’s awareness of how artificial intelligence will significantly change our lives in the future. She mentioned the establishment of an innovative center related to this topic and the university’s goal of providing consultancy to the private sector, contributing to the country’s economy.
Ali Altınbaş, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Altınbaş University, emphasized the rapid changes the world is undergoing and predicted that production would gain speed with artificial intelligence. He stressed the need to be part of this development, emphasizing the importance of closely following such events.
Imam Altınbaş, Chairman of the Board at Altınbaş, stated that productive artificial intelligence is now being used in all technologies. He emphasized the importance of incorporating this technology into business processes without lagging behind in development. He highlighted the significant benefits they derive from artificial intelligence, citing examples such as sales, statistical data, and robotic searches.
“Artificial intelligence is an opportunity, not a threat”
Murat Akyüz, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Association of Machinery Manufacturers and Business People (TİAD), stated in his opening speech, “Everything we include in our lives is the result of science, technology, and industry. At the core of these is human curiosity and the quest for innovation. Today, artificial intelligence, which we will talk about, is again the result of human curiosity and quest for innovation. As you know, industry and technology, which constantly hold change in their nature, always contain new opportunities. Since the theoretical and practical discussions of smart production, Industry 4.0, and artificial intelligence began, they have been at the center of our focus. As TİAD, which brings together critical stakeholders for Turkish manufacturing under one roof, we see artificial intelligence shaping the present and future not as a threat but as an opportunity. The speed of change and transformation is creating its reality at the speed of light. We are living changes that were once a dream for humanity. Technology has never been this fast before, and tomorrow it cannot be this slow. Being a spectator and saying that something is happening quickly and leaving it at that would not be a suitable attitude for non-profit organizations serving industry. As TİAD, we will continue to shape and sustain the studies for the gains we foresee in artificial intelligence that shape today and the future, focusing on its opportunities rather than its threats. Without returning to all industrial revolutions and production methods without changing fundamentally, just as a farmer does not plow a field with a black plow anymore, an industrial organization cannot produce without benefiting from the blessings of artificial intelligence.”
Changes in the financial ecosystem
Kübra Odabaş Taşlı, Product & Channel Group President at Bankpozitif, which sponsored the event, described the continuous efforts of their technology company, PozitifTech, to provide innovative solutions to customers and facilitate financial transactions. She emphasized the importance of digitalization and innovation, stating, “There is a competitive advantage, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. In the past, when we went to banks, checkbooks were given, and we used to wait in long queues. I can’t remember the last time I went to a branch. In terms of operations, a lot has changed in the financial sector.”
“Unemployment may increase”
Gökhan Akar, Chairman of the Board at Onicorn Technology and Angel Investor, who mentioned investing only in artificial intelligence, shared his views on artificial intelligence, stating, “We are trying to understand artificial intelligence for the first time. Is it a threat or an opportunity? It’s coming fast. The infrastructure has been built since the 2010s. A lot of data has been collected in this field. There are currently some ethical problems. How to overcome them is not known. Tremendous opportunities can arise in this field. The world is on a rocket, but it can also be said that it poses a threat to the labor market. Unemployment could increase significantly. The social aspect also needs to be discussed.”
Akar, who stated that they use artificial intelligence as a decision-maker, explained that they benefit from artificial intelligence in examining and developing an e-commerce site, obtaining more accurate results.
