Bursa Technical University (BTU) is preparing to crown its pioneering work in the field of artificial intelligence with new departments. In this context, BTU plans to open new departments in artificial intelligence, digitalization, and big data fields. President of the Higher Education Board Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar met with 20 university rectors, including BTU Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, in a meeting. Özvar announced that 5 undergraduate and all-new 12 associate degree programs will be opened in universities in the fields of “artificial intelligence, digitalization, and big data,” two of which are for the first time. Bursa Technical University is among these universities, and it is planned to offer classes online and synchronously. With the contributions of expert academics in the field of information technology and artificial intelligence and sector representatives, it is aimed to elevate the quality of curricula with new programs. At the same time, with the opening of new departments, a workforce will be provided in the fields of artificial intelligence, solutions of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and big data. Skilled workforce will graduate from BTU Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, stating that BTU is one step ahead in the field of artificial intelligence, noted that all students within the university already take artificial intelligence courses. Çağlar said, “We are now opening an artificial intelligence department at BTU, which is mentioned with the studies we have conducted on artificial intelligence. A skilled workforce is very important in the field of artificial intelligence, which is involved in every aspect of life. As a technical university, we are aware of our great responsibility in this regard. With our artificial intelligence-related departments and our expert academic staff, the details of which will be clarified later, we will raise the bar to the highest level.” Students developing artificial intelligence Emphasizing that BTU will become a university known for artificial intelligence with the new departments to be opened, Rector Naci Çağlar said, “While ensuring the technical development of our students, we attach importance to their graduation in a way that is compatible with current developments and familiar with industry dynamics. We are working to have students who can use artificial intelligence, integrate it into their processes, and more importantly, develop artificial intelligence. In order for our academics to use the developments in this field in their courses, we bring experts in the field together with our academics. Continuing to fulfill the motto of ‘Innovative State University,’ we will continue to be the address of firsts and innovations.”
