As part of ‘Quit Smoking Day’, information about the dangers of smoking and tobacco was provided by Aydın State Hospital, and carbon monoxide measurements were conducted on citizens.

As part of Quit Smoking Day, a stand was set up at the hospital polyclinic entrance by the chief physician of Aydın State Hospital to provide information on the dangers of smoking and tobacco as well as methods to quit. Awareness was raised through information provided and brochures distributed at the stand, where carbon monoxide measurements were also conducted on citizens.

A sharing from Aydın State Hospital regarding the issue stated, “Smoking is a significant public health problem both globally and in our country. Every year, 6 million people worldwide die due to smoking. As part of Quit Smoking Day activities, a stand was set up by the Education Unit at the entrance of our hospital’s polyclinic to provide information about smoking addiction, raise awareness, and encourage smokers to quit. During the event, attended by our Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Gülnur Taşçı Bozbaş and hospital administrators, brochures were distributed to patients and their families explaining the dangers of smoking and methods to quit, along with conducting carbon monoxide measurements. Patients identified as dependent based on the measurement results were advised to take the first step towards a healthy life without cigarettes. Referrals were made to Smoking Cessation Clinics, primarily to KETEM, which provide services in our province.”
