Renowned author Mario Levi laid to rest

Renowned author Mario Levi, known for his love for Istanbul, was laid to rest in the Synagogue at the Acıbadem Jewish Cemetery in Kadıköy at the funeral ceremony held for him. The funeral was attended by Mario Levi’s wife Ece Erdoğuş Levi, family, and close friends.
The author of many works, including “Istanbul Was a Fairy Tale,” “Our Most Beautiful Love Story,” “Not Being Able to Go to a City,” “The Amusement Park Closed,” and “I Made Sponge Cake for You,” Mario Levi, passed away at the age of 66. A funeral ceremony was organized today at the Synagogue in the Acıbadem Jewish Cemetery in Kadıköy for Levi. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Batuhan Mumcu, Levi’s wife Ece Erdoğuş Levi, Gülgün Feyman, Levi’s family, friends, and students. Additionally, many institutions, organizations, and political parties sent wreaths to the funeral.
“Not just for Turkey, but a global figure” Speaking at the funeral ceremony, Speaker – Presenter Gülgün Feyman said, “I don’t see it as a loss. From now on, we need to keep alive his thoughts on the Turkish language, his thoughts on literature, as a teacher. Workshops should be organized in his name because Mario Levi is a special person who said, ‘My deepest country is Turkish.’ In summary, let’s not alienate each other, let’s free ourselves from prejudices. Mario is not just a value for Turkey but globally. May his soil be plenty.”
Following the ceremony, Mario Levi’s body was buried in the Jewish cemetery.
